About the Role
We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team in the position of Volunteer and Intern Coordinator in a voluntary capacity. In this role, you will be a part of the leadership team and help support volunteer and intern onboarding within Plastic Oceans Australasia (POA). You will work closely with the education, science and intern programs and will be responsible for the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers and interns. The purpose is to ensure volunteers and interns are effective in improving and maintaining the operational efficiency of POA and to ensure it is a supportive and happy experience for all.
Responsibilities
Is committed to developing and maintaining a positive workplace culture
Onboarding and induction of all new volunteers
Management and support of all volunteers
Assisting in the support and management of interns
Following up on all required documentation from volunteers and interns throughout their journey
Assisting in the running of full team meetings on a monthly basis
Requirements
Experience in a non-profit organisation, working with and managing volunteers and/or interns before.
Understands issues facing volunteers and interns in a non-profit organisation.
Committed to developing and maintaining a positive workplace culture.
Solid computer skills to be able to communicate efficiently and effectively.
A wonderful approach to engaging with people on all levels.
Has the ability to work autonomously and in a team.
Has the ability to work online and remotely some of the time.
Demonstrates ability to use MS Word, Excel and Outlook, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
A current (or willing to obtain) National Police Check
Is interested in environmental sustainability and is passionate about marine life, human health, and waterways.
